Gustav Eden kickflip
This one from a few years back now. Gustav Eden spent several years in Perth dropping dope tricks like this one here on the regular. Shout out to Gustav who is now back in his homeland of Sweden. So glad I could capture this kickflip and freeze that moment in time.

When living in Freo, I used to miss skating around the streets of a city. This was one of the times we got our arse out of the wagon and headed into Perth CBD. I think Luke had just found this spot and were trying to shoot some photos. I had some new MJs with the smooth toecap and couldn’t catch the grip of the flip right. Kept air stepping. And stressing. Barry rocked up mid session too and looked like he was having no trouble skating the kicker. Bastard. More stress. The kick flip was supposed to be reasonably easy, but wasn’t working out. It was reasonably quiet for pedestrians but some reactions were to be expected, seeing as we were blocking part of the footpath. When you’re in an uphill struggle to land a trick, distractions can trigger different responses. Something messing with your concentration can conjure deep feelings of resentment and visions of various ways of ending the life of said distraction. Brutally. It can also knock you out of your negative mind space and push you to go for it. When a group of pensioners approached from down the road, looking like they were about to start asking questions, my initial response was the prior. To be fair, however, we were in their space. I figured I had one attempt before they would kick up a fuss which was probably what made it work. Rolling away, the pensioners cheered on, rather than objecting. They then stayed to watch Barry smash out a frontside flip in about two attempts. Again: bastard. Good day in the end. Still wish I had gotten myself down CBD more in those days. Good times Perth and good times in Freo alike.
